As we come to the end of 2021 (with the hope that this pandemic will come to an end as well), we tend to look forward to setting goals and resolutions as the new year often brings a fresh start.

New year resolutions can cover many different aspects in life, such as:

  • Having better mental, physical and emotional health 🧘‍♀️
  • Making more 💲💲💲 (who doesn’t like money right? *winks*)
  • Giving back to society more 💁 (donations, volunteering, etc)
  • Spending more time with your family members 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
  • Taking up new hobbies 🚴🏻‍♀️
  • Buying your 1st home 🏠 (or perhaps the 2nd or 3rd?)

And many more…

Today, let me share what MY goals are in the year to come, and the journey I have embarked on towards achieving them!

My 1st Property Purchase Experience

As an islander from the tiny state of Penang, I have always dreamed of pursuing my career in the concrete jungle that we all know as Klang Valley and hey, guess what? Here I am nurturing that dream in JaGaApp, woohoo! 🥳

Being here for almost 2 years has made me crave for something even more – which is to get my OWN first property in this land of opportunity. Lo and behold, my dream is becoming a reality! *HIP HIP HOORAY* 🙌

Buying your first property comes with a lot, and I mean, A LOT of research. Overall, it comes down to 3 main aspects:

  1. New vs Subsale Properties
  2. Types of Property Loans
  3. Additional Costs of Property Purchase
New vs Subsale Properties

One of the most highly contemplated aspects, when I was looking for my forever home, was: which type of property should I go for? New? Or Subsale?

I personally went with subsale as I wanted to get my place within the next year (2022 to be precise, hehe). My comfort in subsale properties arose from the property I am currently renting in KL. Having stayed here for about a year over now has enabled me to see how the property is maintained and managed. And guess what? It was to my liking! Hence, I am getting my first subsale property at the same place that I am currently renting. Yipee! 💃

It is of no surprise that having a good developer, management company, and security guard company is indeed important when it comes to purchasing a property.

There are several pros and cons to buying new vs subsale properties. Here are some:
