Celebrating Hari Raya with JaGa Spirit 🌙
Dear readers,
Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir and Batin.
As the new year approaches I was doing a little reflecting and I realised that I have not written to you in a while. In this edition of our newsletter, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you something that touched me this week.
In case you didn’t know, the JaGaCrew starts off every work week with an activity on Monday morning. Called JaGather, it is a forum where we all get together for some activities and sharing. Typically, JaGather ends with a forum where the directors, David and I share our message for the week and also align the team towards the week’s goals.
This week, inspired by Hari Raya, the host team’s activity was a little sentimental. We were asked to reflect back on a few things:
- The reason we joined/started the business
- What we have achieved
- What we would like to achieve this year
The answers from the team truly touched me and I would like to share some of them with you. It is my hope that as you continue to follow our newsletter, you will get to know us individually, our hopes, dreams and aspirations.

Our Thoughts, Gathered from JaGather
Belle joined a year ago as part of the finance team, with a very clear mandate to improve collections and the finance team as a whole. She recalled how she was hired by the previous Finance Manager who subsequently left the company, and was caught in a transition phase full of change.
She started by sharing about how she felt when she first started:
“I knew there was a lot of work to be done when I first joined, and wow it sure was tough. In the earlier days when I was still learning the ropes, I remembered the directors invited me for a chat, and in that talk, they asked if I was willing to fight with them. I committed to the cause with a strong “Yes”, and we made things better bit-by-bit from then on.”
As to her hopes and dreams, she says:

“I am looking forward to see the company reach profitability, and then grow in size and profits. I want to be able to say I did that, I contributed and I made a difference."

Representing our relentless tech team, Jimmy has been an integral part of our team from the start, and has seen us grow throughout the years. As to why he joined the company, he says:
“I truly believe in the digital revolution in property or facility management. Tech will be the inevitable cornerstone of the modern world, and JaGaApp is providing for an industry that I personally feel is very underserved.”
When asked about what he would like the company to achieve this year, Jimmy mentions:

“The vision of the company that we laid out years ago is coming to fruition, and I am glad I made the right choice to believe. In some ways, JaGaApp is like my own child. The time spent on it has paid off, I am excited to see it grow above and beyond what it is right now."

In our company, PC’s responsibilities are vast. Amongst others, she is part responsible for the development of JaGaApp (in some sense, she is our “filter” that consolidate client feedbacks and break them down into sprints for our team to work on every 2 weeks). Here’s what she’s got to say about how she joined:
“Prior to JaGaApp, I was working in a much larger corporate environment. Things can be very bureaucratic at times, and I wanted a more fulfilling environment where I would be more in the heat of things.”
“JaGaApp provides me this opportunity, as not only was I given the exposure to work with the Directors closely, but the changes we make on the product brings immediate, tangible changes to our customers, no matter how small they are. There was impact in the things that I do.”

“This year, we are focusing not just on expanding our features and functions, but also to improve communication with our clients. I am excited to see our clients interact and engage the platform, and hope that our efforts be appreciated by many”.

CM also recently joined the creative department as a fresh graduate. Some of us just discovered through JaGather that CM’s degree was in a field that was totally unrelated to design, and that he picked up the know-hows of the design softwares on his own. (That’s so cool!)
“I remember wanting to land a role in design, but most of my applications were turned down because I did not have a lot of experience in the field. My current manager took notice of me and gave me the chance, and the rest was history.”
“I honestly appreciate the opportunity given to me, as well as the privilege to be given both guidance and freedom to express my creativity in my role. I am here to contribute and learn, and I can’ think of no better place to do both.”

“This year, my goals are to ensure my work truly helps communicate our message to our clients. Be it a button in-app or a presentation deck, effective design truly helps impart the true meaning of our good intention”.

I share some of these stories with you especially during this time of Hari Raya — a time of reflecting, care, forgiveness and thanksgiving as these traits are in-line with our spirit of JaGa.
