WELCOME NOTE

Wake me up (to travel) when September ends

We’re quickly approaching the month of October! As the year is ending, we hope you are progressing towards the goals you’ve set for yourself this year 💪🏼

In case you missed it, we’ve once published a post on social media detailing all the long weekends in 2022 that you can use to go on a trip.

Here’s a reminder on how is October looking like:

That’s right, we’re blessed with 2 long weekends for October! 🤩

Some of us JaGaCrew are planning local getaways on these dates, and while you may be occupied celebrating your respective festivities, we thought it’d be great to share some travel ideas with you (just in case). 🌚
Because we know that all of you are different kinds of travellers, we also took extra time to curate our travel ideas to fit three different personas!

Here’s what each of them are:

Ambitious Adventurer – Experience matters most to you! No matter how far or how tiring it can get, you live to travel, and travel to live.

Retreat Regular – Wants a break from work and life, needs time-out from the concrete jungle. Would stay at home, but coming out of the house is a nice change of pace.

Family First – Loves to travel, but family always come first. Constantly looking for places that are kids and elderly-friendly.

P/S: This is not a sponsored post. Ideas suggested below came from JaGaCrew who are actually planning for their respective trips on these dates.

CORNER TALK 🗣️

Travel Ideas for the Long Weekend

Ambitious Adventurer
4-Day 3-Night Perlis – Hat Yai Trip

Inspired by a recent post from SAYS, we did a little digging and found that a trip up to Hat Yai turned out to be very feasible.

From Kho Hong Mountain Viewpoint to Khlong Hae Floating Market, there’s a lot to love about the city, and a lot of walking too!

If you’re thinking of pulling a 4-Day 3-Night here, click this link to see our suggested travel itinerary.

Royal Belum Boathouse

Nestled in Belum-Temengor, you will be spending 2 nights on a boathouse that shows you the wonders of this 130 million year old rainforest (one of the oldest in the world!).

The only caveat is that the packages we reviewed requires a minimum of 20 pax, so you’ll need a big group of people to book for this.

This package is full of activities that will make your experience an unforgettable one. If hiking and greeneries are up your alley, we think this is just for you!

Retreat Regular

When asked on where they would go for a break away from the city life, the JaGaCrew fell into one of two camps.

They got excited later on, and we got each camp to present us a list of places they would go to relax.

Here’s the breakdown!

By the Sea

A list of beachfront Airbnb’s we like can be found here, but if you were asking us which non-mainstream places were our favourites:

  1. fishing resort right next to the JB-Singapore borders
  2. If money and monsoons weren’t real, this beach would be it

PSA: As some of the locations (especially those in the East Coast) may be a little dangerous due to the monsoon season, do exercise caution and forecast properly before you make the trip next month.

Near Nature

If you fancy a retreat with more lush greeneries or near the woods, here’s our pocket picks for October!

  1. Caravan Camping – Cameron Highlands
  2. Mangala Resort – Pahang
  3. The Hooton Retreat – Negeri Sembilan
The Family Friendly

Some of the JaGaCrew are parents who have kids and elder folk to worry about as they plan for trips.

They voiced out their criteria for travelling when both kids and elder folk have to be taken care of, mainly:

  • Accommodates large groups
  • Safe for kids
  • Less strenuous on elder folk (shorter travelling times, accessibility etc.)

With these in mind, we spotted two places for a quick getaway!

1858 Semungkis

Convenient. Fuss-free. If these are what you’re thinking about for a vacation with your extended family, 1858 Semungkis can’t be a better choice.

Less than an hour’s drive away from KL, This location can house up to 16 pax, and is ideal if you want a trip to slowly expose the kids to a “kampung” life.

An al-fresco kitchen, a nearby river, plus a karaoke system? There’s something for everyone in the family!

3-Day 2-Night Bagan Datuk Trip

If you’re more adventurous, and your family is willing to go for longer drives, Bagan Datuk may tickle your travel bug fancy!

We consulted our in-house adventurer Pui Cheng, and she’s reverted with an ideal 3D2N itinerary for KL-lites looking to get their fill in food, and in sceneries.

Here’s the gist of it, if you’re contemplating:

Day 1 – Hunt for food as you drive from Klang up to Teluk Intan
Day 2 – Spend a full day exploring Bagan Datuk
Day 3 – Head back to KL!

It’s a shorter drive to Ipoh, and potentially less crowded too!
